Wakanda I am with you on the legalization of marijuana. Again I feel it is big Pharma who is against. Everything I have read on marijuana for pain control looks positive. Also good for PTSD. Still Totally ADD

Hi Jamie good to hear from you. I don't know. My next doctor appointment is Nov. 7. They will take a X-ray of my back to see how well I healing. Maybe they will let me then.
Cadllin you are right she is a treasure. I use to laugh at this slogan back in the 80's but I feel it is really true "just say no to drugs". The pharmaceutical companies have us by our you know what.
Both of you take care. Still Totally ADD

Hello all,
It has been 4 1/2 weeks since I had back surgery. I had L4and L5 fused, disk was suck out replaced with a artificial disk and a bracket or what they called a cage with 4 screws holding it all together. I went in on a Tuesday and was out of the hospital the next day. The first few days was rough but by the time the weekend came I was feeling a whole lot better. I am now will along to healing with little or no pain. This week I am according to instruction weaning myself off the back brace.
I have learned why opiates are very dangerous. Even though I had a 10 day supply of them taking them every 4 hours I only did that for 2 1/2 days. But it took me 3 days of withdraw to get over the effects of them. Lot's of anxiety and hot and cold sweats. Regular pain pills did just fine and I have not needed one for over 2 weeks. These things are dangerous. I had no idea.
I was told it may be until May next year before I can go back to work. It all depends on me to follow the doctor's instruction. I must say at this point I am glad I did this. Which leads me to my next point.
I have a lot of time to read which I am doing and a lot of time to reflect on my life. I feel like I am more centered more clam with myself and at peace. I sometimes feel like I have conquered my ADD. I am able to think clearly and read will into the evening. Something I was never able to do. But I do realize there is more to it but who knows?
I am able to walk several blocks everyday. I do this twice a day. I am getting stronger as time goes on. The doctor says I am doing great and I feel very good. Reading this site everyday has help me to better understand how we all feel and how hard it is for all of us to regain our individuality. Our pain we all have is what brings us together no matter what our thinking is on politics. I really respect that.
My wife has been great. She is such a great care giver. She is a rock and has been very supportive. I am a very lucky man. If there is a draw back to all of this is I am not allowed to drive, lift, bend, push or pull anything. Foremost do not bend my back. My wife has keep me me from doing this. I liken her to a pit bull when it comes to this. All this and home cook meals.
That's about it for now and I can't wait until next spring so I can start gardening again. You all take care. Still Totally ADD

Meetings are boring
by Akid48 inmeetings are boring for young kids and old but i'm going to focus on young kids 5 or 8.. i think is unfair that young kids get punished for falling asleep or zoning out.. as meetings are not as boring but i have to go to school the next day and staying up till 10pm isn't the best i can't get out of going.. but think of the young kids that dont even understand most of the teachings.. i know most on the site are adults but i heard of adults falling asleep..

I remember. Living in central time zone. Getting home by 10 to 10:30 pm. There was no strict time rules back then on how long meetings were. I have no idea why we started at 8 pm. In our little town in central IL in the early 60's by that time most school age kids was thinking about bed. Not me. I was in bed by 11pm and had to wakeup by 6:30 am. So I could caught a bus to start school at 8 am. Make things worse Friday was the day the teacher would give us test on subject we study that week.
I learned at a very early age to zone out for hours without going to sleep. My ADD came in real handy back then. LOL. Still Totally ADD

Is there anything good JWs taught you still benefit from?
by venus insome years ago, i attended a jw wedding.
marriage speaker said something which changed my life for the better, and it helps me even now.
he told the couple: “the very make up of man and woman is such that conflicts can often arise between you.

I had the opportunity several years ago to debate a extreme fundamentalists at the local library. It was 2 years after leaving the borg. I had a great time disproving all his nonsense me was trying to defend. The guy I debated fancy himself a prophet of God. I had a lot of fun with this but. I will give credit to some of the things I learned as a JW. Still Totally ADD

Why referring to Watchtower as 'the Borg' is so apt!
by UnshackleTheChains init's interesting that when watchtower is referred to as the borg, it immediately brings to mind the scenes where individuals such as captain piccard are held prisoner within a vast collective hive type prison and unable to leave.
they are then turned into drones.
in fact here is how wikipedia explains it.. the borg are a fictional alien group that appear as recurring antagonists in the star trek franchise.

In the series if a drone left the Borg hive they was totally cut off from the voices of the hive or collective. When they would come back they were assimilated and brought back into the collective. Those who did have success to totally leave had a very difficult time in becoming normal. I feel this fictional Star Trek storyline fits the WT very well. So for all those who had successfully escape the Borg all I can say is live long and prosper. Still Totally ADD

Morpheus according to the news the guns was legally purchase. I am just trying to throw out a idea to help others who are victims. No you do not sue Toyota for a car accident but with insurance you will get compensated. It may be bottomless hole when it comes to this discussion but there has to be a rational discussion on this if we can help this problem.
No this is not handwringing all I trying to do is find a solution instead of trying to hold a position that is either right or wrong. Again I find it interesting the discussion was all about guns and little regard for the victims. As a X-cult member my thinking abilities are starting to work. This is how I learn. Still Totally ADD

What about the victims of shootings? I understand the reasoning on both sides of this debate but no one has talk about the victims. How are they going to be compensated for what happen to them? Are they just victims of a broken system that just wants to serve their own interest.
Already the big gun companies are making big money on this tragedy with their stock going up. Congress has a bill before them to make it alright to buy silencers. NRA keeps screaming to their followers the government is going to take our guns away. All this is going on while the very rich get even richer on this tragedy. But the victims get nothing except a moment of silence from the President and others.
I can see no justice in any of this. I am not and i repeat not anti-gun. But how is this problem going to be solved when no one will listen to each other. For me it's the victims of all this that should be considered not how gun companies can make more money.
I stated this earlier one this thread why don't we make it where all gun owners must have insurance on their guns. No insurance no guns. If a gun hurts someone a least the victims get some compensation. Just like what we do with our cars. Want to drive you have to have insurance. It is not the total solution but it is a start in helping victims. Think about it. Still Totally ADD

Yet there will be those in the cult condemning this woman for being at this concert instead of being out in service or at a meeting. I hope this is not the case but we are talking about a cult. Still Totally ADD
